Why are Akhilesh and Dimple Yadav Being Trolled on Social Media?

Akhilesh and Dimple Yadav are being trolled on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). People are making various comments about the Samajwadi Party (SP) and its connections with criminals. The reason behind this backlash is the arrest of SP leader and former block chief, Nawab Singh Yadav, in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj. Nawab Singh Yadav has been accused of attempting to rape a minor. The police registered the case late Sunday night, recorded the victim’s statement in the morning, and then sent the accused SP leader to jail. Before he was jailed, a crowd of SP supporters gathered at the police station. Nawab Singh Yadav was arrested around 1:30 AM from his degree college located in Nasrapur village of the Sadar Kotwali area. The police received a call on the emergency number 112 from the minor, who reported the attempted rape. The police then arrested the SP leader on the spot.

A social media user named Manish Kumar Verma commented, “After Ayodhya, now in Kannauj too, an SP leader is arrested. Nawab Singh, who has been the representative of MP Dimple Yadav, is arrested for attempting to rape a minor. The girl called UP 112 and informed the police. The minor was lured with a job offer along with her aunt!” Another user, Prakhar Dubey, wrote, “This is Nawab Singh Yadav, a leader of the Samajwadi Party and a close associate of Dimple and Akhilesh Yadav. He is accused of attempting to rape a minor girl after luring her with a job offer. The police have arrested him.”

Arjun Pandit, another user, posted, “Crime, rape, and corruption, this is the identity of the Samajwadi Party. After Ayodhya, SP leader shames the perfume city of Kannauj. Nawab Singh Yadav, a close associate of SP MP Dimple Yadav, arrested for attempting to rape a minor girl.” Another user, Student Union, tweeted, “SP leader Nawab Singh Yadav was arrested at 2 AM for attempting rape in his own college under the guise of a job offer. Nawab Yadav is a former block chief and was also Dimple Yadav’s representative. Will SP still say ‘boys will be boys’?” Subham Sharma wrote, “This senior leader of the Samajwadi Party was arrested today in a rape case, and shockingly, this man has been the representative of Kannauj MP Dimple Yadav. And today, the SP spokesperson is on TV debates…”

BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya also targeted Akhilesh Yadav over this issue. He tweeted a news clipping about Nawab Singh’s arrest along with a picture of him with Akhilesh Yadav, writing, “After Ayodhya, now in Kannauj, an SP leader is arrested for attempting to rape a minor. Nawab Singh Yadav, who was known as a ‘mini CM’ during the SP government, is recognized as the right hand and MP representative of Dimple Yadav in Kannauj. Will Akhilesh Yadav still demand a DNA test?”

BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi also criticized the entire incident. He said that Nawab Singh Yadav is not just a small-time leader of the SP but has also been a representative of Dimple Yadav. Under the policy of ‘boys will be boys,’ the SP has always tried to cover up such crimes. He added that first it was Ayodhya’s Moid Khan, and now it’s Kannauj’s Nawab Yadav—this is the true character of the SP.
