Stock Market Today: Stock market opened flat, fluctuations continue in Sensex-Nifty

The Indian stock market opened flat in Tuesday’s trading session. There is flat trading in major market indices. Sensex is down marginally by 9 points at 81,347 and Nifty is down by one point at 24,835.

The trend in the market remains positive. On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), 1,488 shares are in the green and 538 shares are in the red. FMCG, Realty, Media, Energy and Commodity indices are trading rapidly. However, there is a decline in IT, Pharma, Fin Service and Pharma indices.

Compared to largecap, midcap and smallcap indices remain bullish. Nifty Midcap 100 index is at 58,537 with a gain of 175 points or 0.30 percent and Nifty Smallcap 100 index is at 19,155 with a gain of 112 points or 0.59 percent. NTPC, Power Grid, Asian Paints, HUL, Tata Motors and Tech Mahindra are the top gainers in the Sensex pack.

UltraTech Cement, Bajaj Finserv, Sun Pharma, M&M and Tata Steel are the top losers. Market experts say that the market remains flexible due to the continuous new inflows in the stock market and the increasing trend of retail investors. However, expensive valuations are still a matter of concern.

The positive fact is that good quality stocks are seeing a rise. The market is eyeing the Fed meeting to be held on July 31 regarding interest rates, which will decide the direction of the market.
