America will protect Israel, will deploy fighter jets and naval ships in West Asia
The world has seen how big a sympathiser the US is for Israel during the war between Israel and Hamas. After the killing of Hezbollah commander Shukur and Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, amid the atmosphere of a major war in the Middle East, the US is once again committed to protecting Israel. It is going to deploy naval ships and additional fighter jets in West Asia to protect the Jewish country. This deployment will be done in view of the threat from Iran and Iran-backed militias. This information was given by the Pentagon’s Deputy Press Secretary on Friday.
US committed to protect Israel
This step is being taken to reduce the possibility of regional tensions between the two after Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7. The Defense Secretary said that America will protect our personnel and interests in the region, including their firm commitment to the defense of Israel. The Pentagon says that the US Defense Chief has ordered to send more fighter planes to West Asia. A statement issued by the Defense Department said that the US Defense Secretary has ordered to send ‘extra defense-capable cruisers, ballistic missile and other destroyers to the US European Command and US Central Command areas.’
Promise to give additional support to Israel
Last night, President Biden and Israeli PM Netanyahu held talks. During this, the US expressed commitment to more defense capabilities in the region. Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III also held talks with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. During this, he also promised to give additional support to Israel.
Additional fighter squadrons will be deployed in the Middle East
To maintain the presence of the Carrier Strike Group in the Middle East, the Secretary has ordered the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group to replace the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group, which is currently on deployment in the Central Command area. Sabrina said that the Secretary of Defense has also ordered the deployment of additional fighter squadrons to the Middle East, strengthening our defensive air support capability.
Capable of defense deployment even on short notice
He said that the US had also said in October and April that their global defense is dynamic. Their defense department has the ability to deploy even on short notice to deal with emerging national security threats. The US is also focusing on reducing tensions in the region and insisting on a ceasefire as part of the hostage agreement to return the hostages home and end the war in Gaza.
The US has taken this step in view of the tension arising after the death of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran. The US fears that Iran may retaliate on Haniyeh’s death.
